Beaver Road Primary School is situated in the south of the
city. Didsbury is a very popular place to live with parks
and open spaces, good housing ranging from Victorian homes
to the most modern apartments, shops and restaurants. There
are 700 children from 3 years old to 11 years old in the
School, 26 teachers, 28 teaching assistants and lots of
others such as administrative staff, cooks and cleaners.
Beaver Road is a thriving multicultural school. Our children
come from many different cultural and religious backgrounds.
Many of the children speak two or more languages. Spanish is
our second language and is taught from Year 3 (8 year olds)
onwards.
We have many children playing musical instruments – flutes,
recorders, clarinets, trumpets, violins and cellos and more
unusual instruments like balalaika. We have a Samba Band and
all the children from 8 years old have the opportunity to
learn Indian music. We also have a very good choir.
We are very interested in our children and staff learning
more about the wider world in which we live. We have a
partnership with two schools in Pakistan and now the All
about Me, All about You, All about Us partnership with our
friends in Spain, Germany, France and Northern Ireland.
International Week
17
February to 21 February was International Week.
At Beaver Road each Year Group (3 classes – 90 children) had
an area of the world to investigate.
Each class had their own country.
Here are some photos of the children’s work on display for
parents, carers and families on School Open Day on 26
November.
