The Amaiur School Carnival Celebration

In Nursery, the little ones, three years old ones are dressing up as clowns, four year old ones as witches. Five year olds as Zanpanzar (a typical character that wear bells in their back). In Primary seven year old ones as Moxaurre (another typical Navarre character), eight years old as pirates and 3, 4 ,5 and 6 of Primary dress up however they want and they do performances with music.

In the afternoon it's the parade in the streets and dad and mum see the parade. We finish at one o’clock and we have a txistorrada the typical sausage eating.

FERRETZAILEA
Ferretzailea is one character from the carnival. He dresses in sacks and on the head he has got a kind of a curtain like ziripot. Ferretzailea tries to put the horse one horseshoe but it is impossible. With the sticks they try to irritate people. It’s very irritating!
HARTZA
“Hartza” (Bear) is from Arizkun. Hartza is sleeping in the winter and during the carnival he wakes up very hungry. He looks for food to eat. Hartza is very dangerous and goes to the children and the people to poke and scare them. Hartza is very white and he’s got long hair. Hartza is an animal (a bear), like Amaia, Bravo, Knut, Marius and Molly .
MIELOTXIN
Mielotxin is wearing blue jeans, gum shoes, coloured T-shirt, a very big conic hat with lots of colours and yellow shoes. Inside the body he’s got a straw. In NAVARRA’S carnival TXATXO carries MIELOTXIN in the parade.
At school the children do a dance and after the children burn MIELOTXIN.
MOMOTXORROAK
Momotxorroak has a basket on his head with stripes covering it. He has got a pelt in the shoulder and big horns in the basket. He is wearing blue jeans, a apron full of blood and a pitchfork in the hand. It is a typical character from the Carnival in Navarre. It is very scary.
MOXAURRE
The moxaurre character is wearing: red scarf, straw-made-shoes (ezpartinak), white jeans, a white T-shirt, a red belt and a coloured mask. The moxaurre is typical from Navarre. It is very fast and in the hand has got a stick to scare and poke people.
SORGINA
Sorgina (the witch) is wearing a white hat, it’s a scarf on the head, a black skirt, a brown and yellow broom. Sorgina helps Akerra. Sorgina scares children. She likes doing a fire in the cave hole. They like a dancing in the circle next to the fire. Sorgina can fly on the broom.
TXATXO
Txatxo has a colourful belt, trousers and a colourful T-shirt. Txatxo is small, and jumps a lot. He’s got a pointed cap. He is a bit scary, but he is very nice. He is from LANTZ a small village in NAVARRE.
ZAGIA
They have their faces painted black, and they wear a beret. They carry a sack. They wear a blue overall. They give kisses and get dirty lots of people. Zagia takes people, for giving kisses. Then they dance with the dantzaris or dancers.
ZAKUZAHARRA
The zakuzaharra is from Lesaka. He is wearing a sack and inside the sack he's got grass . He has got a brown bladder a white cloth on the head, and a brown hat and he hits with the bladder.
ZALDIKO
He has got blue jeans, has got a scarf to cover the head, he also has a black hat and a wooden horse. He likes poking people and pushing the fat Ziripot.
ZIRIPOT
Ziripot is wearing a brown sack, a hat and a stick. Zaldiko pushes Ziripot and Txatxo helps Ziripot. Ziripot is from Lantz. He is very fat. He's got straw in the sack.
